If there’s one problem that a lot of people seem to have, it’s paying their credit cards on time. Not sure why you should even bother paying on time? Don’t worry if the question sounds strange; many people find themselves asking why they should struggle to pay on time when anything they paid is better than nothing at all.

There are a few key reasons why you should always try to stay on top of your credit card payments:

1. Credit Score: The later you are on your credit card payments, the more your credit score drops. You see, the score system is weighted towards not just paying your credit card statements, but also paying in a timely fashion. By paying on time, you show future lenders that you really are a good credit risk, and they will be much more likely to extend credit to you than if you were continuously late all the time.

2. Moral Obligation: When you pick up a credit card, you’re actually entering into a contract with the credit card company. This means that you aren’t just going through the motions with the credit card company, but you’re actually saying that you will pay on time in exchange for getting a certain line of credit. If you prove that you cannot handle this, you can see your line of credit either cancelled outright or drastically limited. This can make it easier to go over the limit and incur fees, which is something that you might want to avoid.

3. Universal Default: If you default on one card by paying late, your credit score takes the hit and other cards may cut your line or limit it due to what’s called the universal default clause in your contract. If you pay late for one company, the other credit card companies are going to assume that the chances of you repeating that behavior are actually quite high. In reality, this may or may not be the case. There are some people out there that start defaulting on all the credit cards they have, while some people try to minimize the damage as much as possible.

So, now that you know the reasons why staying on time is important, let’s go right into what you can do to make sure that you pay on time:

A. Autopay: You might want to think about automatically sending your payments to the credit card company. Now, this usually means that you will need to have stable income, instead of just floating from one statement or another.

B. Tracking: Sites like mint.com are a great way to make sure that you will be able to always know what your money is doing — including the outstanding debts that you owe. A site like mint.com can also tell you when your payments are due and even send you reminders. This can help even the most forgetful ensure that they always send in the payment.

C. Extra payments: If you’re like most people, extra money comes and goes. After all, who hasn’t received a bonus or even a birthday money gift? You can apply that to your credit card debt and suddenly have more money paid down towards your credit cards, which is always a good thing.

These three tips can help you stay out of trouble with the credit card companies, while slowly working on becoming debt-free. The better history that you can build with credit card companies, the easier it will be to negotiate for a lower interest rate, or even ask for a limit increase. By following these tips you will have no problem working towards a brighter credit future in virtually no time at all!

Spending money with credit cards is easy and can lead to exorbitant amounts of debt. However, with responsible use of credit cards and a balanced budget, consumers can take advantage of the convenience of using credit cards to make their purchases without worrying about having too much debt to pay off each month.

The first strategy that helps to keep your use of credit cards in check is to create a balanced budget that dictates how much money you can put toward your credit cards each month. The next step is to stick to the limit listed in your budget. As long as you don’t go over this amount with your spending, you will be able to keep your bills reasonable. Another useful strategy when dealing with debt is to stagger your monthly payments on your credit card debt.

Typically, consumers are requested to select their payment due date on new accounts. If you are just starting out with credit cards, you should try to select a payment due date at the beginning of the month for one account and the middle of the month for a second account. This strategy allows you to save up some money in between bills so that you can make your payment on time by the due date on the credit account. It also helps you to avoid missing your due date as well as making it possible for you to meet the minimum amount due on the account. It is possible that you already have your credit cards and the due dates are similar on both accounts.

If this is the case, you can select one account and try and have its due date changed. Most credit card companies are agreeable to this as long as you select one of their available billing dates. For more affordable monthly planning with your credit cards, you can designate one credit card for certain types of purchases only. This way, you can keep the balance small enough to allow yourself to have a credit card bill that you can pay in full each month. It’s important to maintain realistic goals for your spending habits in order to keep your debt manageable.

Overspending is the fastest path to credit problems and too much debt. You should never spend more money than you earn in any given month if you want to keep your bills manageable. Taking charge of your debt begins with responsible credit card use, and following the above tips is only the tip of the iceberg – though if you create a plan and stick to it, there’s nothing to be afraid of.

Credit cards are a tool, and even though we don’t always feel that way, that’s what we’re going to have to agree upon. If you’re really serious about knowing the ins and outs of your credit card, you will need to keep up with laws that apply to you as a consumer. Yes, we know it’s hard to really stay up to date when it feels like everyone is coming out with some new law that you need to learn, but it’s very important. You don’t want to end up not getting these steps in place and then you will have to try to figure out what to do next.

The law in question that you will need to pay attention now is the Credit CARD Act. Now, President Obama already signed this bill into law, and it’s been on the books for about two years now. However, consumers are just now realizing that this law affects them in different ways — especially as more people are talking about it, and banks are taking steps to change their policies specifically based on what the CARD act is doing.

In a nutshell, the new credit card law means that you will be able to avoid retroactive interest rate increases, which is something that a lot of credit card companies were doing in the past. Since that’s out of the way, you’ll actually have time to pay your existing card balances. When you’re worried about a credit card rate increase, you will need to make sure that you keep your balance as low as possible. Generally speaking, if you can prove that you’ve always paid on time, you can dodge a lot of fees and even get fees credited to you for one time errors. It’s the power of being a good customer!

Another point that the law corrects is how long credit card companies give you to actually pay your bill. There’s no more double-cycle billing, which means that you don’t have finance charges on both cycles of a credit card. This is a way that otherwise good customers were getting charged like crazy. The way double-cycle billing hurts consumers is simple: if they pay off the balance in one billing period, they will still owe finance charges on that billing period even though it’s been paid in full — a process that ends up adding a balance where there really shouldn’t be.

The biggest area that the law covers is minimum payments. Disclosure is the name of the game, and credit card companies have not always wanted to focus on disclosure. In many ways, a credit card is something impulsive, and we’re trained through marketing to salivate for a new credit card. It’s the ticket to the good life — at least that’s what the advertisements make us think. It’s better to just go with your gut and think about what type of credit card you want to have. However, the law is a win for customers in the disclosure section of life — companies now have to talk about the consequences of only making minimum payments. They now have to tell you how long it would take to pay off the entire balance if you only made the minimum monthly payment. That’s something the companies don’t want to tell you, because it’s easier to lull you into a false sense of security.

Now, you might think that we’re anti-credit card — absolutely not. However, the CARD act has a lot of good things for the consumers. It also has a few things that help you figure out where you stand with the credit card companies much easier. Is it a lot for credit card companies to process a tone time? Sure it is, but this is good for them too — when customers make better decisions, they’ll spend better and they’ll spend with confidence.

Are there still going to be people that run up a high bill? Yes. Are there still going to be people that get multiple credit cards that they can’t pay? Yes. No law is going to really change human behavior that much. However, there just might come a day where people spend less and make more meaningful purchases — we can only hope!

It’s a new year, and a lot of people like to make resolutions around this time of year. Do those resolutions come true? Well, it’s all about your overall determination. If you’re determined to make your life better, then things will get better. Of course, what better thing to work on than your credit? If you don’t take charge of your credit, you will have a hard time actually cleaning up your life and moving on to better things. After all, who doesn’t want to buy a house or even pick up a new car? If you have those dreams, fixing your credit is the best way to get started.

Yet most people don’t realize that the first step in fixing their finances is to actually look at their credit report. Some people live in fear of what they will find on their credit report, so they never really stop and get anything out of their credit report. They continue to let inaccurate information pile up on their credit report, which is just not a good thing no matter what perspective you look at it from.

Does it have to be this way? Definitely not. You should make your New Year’s resolution to pull your credit report and actually make changes to it if it needs correcting.

To get started, you will want to go over to annualcreditpreot.com and request your credit report from all three major credit reporting bureaus. It’s tempting to just ask for one credit report, but there might be information that could be on one bureau’s sheets that aren’t on another sheet’s. Ideally, you will want to make sure that everyone has the same billing no matter what report is being pulled. All of your credit information works together to give he best picture of your financial life. If you have information that isn’t covered on a report, it could be dragging down your score and you don’t know it.

By the same token, if something is listed twice on the credit report, you will need to make sure that you get that corrected as soon as possible. This can lower your credit score, when you have no reason to experience that type of decrease at all.

The best part about getting your free annual credit report is that it doesn’t cost you anything. You might see some ads on the Internet for credit reports, but unless it’s free we don’t suggest that you get them.

There is one exception to this rule — getting your actual credit score from all 3 credit bureaus. However, this is something that’s better handled by getting a credit monitoring package that would include your score anyway. If you go this way, you will be able to always see your score and also see your score improve over time as you make changes.

Overall, if you’re really serious about getting your credit under control, you have to commit to pulling your credit report and really looking at it. If you need help, you can always turn to a creditworthy and trustworthy friend that can help you go over the sections of your credit report.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that when the economy is good, spending is high. However, what happens when the economy is bad? Spending still happens, but a lot of people till worry that their spending will cause other problems to occur in their lives. Yet there are still things that need to be purchased, and you can’t deprive yourself of everything just because things have gotten a little tight. With a little bit of planning, you can actually still get everything you want while balancing your spending.

The key is to pick up a tool that often goes overlooked — a pre-paid debit card. Indeed, it depends to get overlooked often because people don’t think that a pre-paid debit card can actually help them get through all of their goals. The reality is that this isn’t the case, and you can control your spending quite easily with a pre-paid debit card. What you’ll ultimately need to do can be broken down into a few steps.

First and foremost, you will want to make sure that you apply for a pre-paid debit card online. Indeed, applying for a pre-paid debit card online is the fastest way to pick up one of these cards. You’ll have the ability to even connect an existing bank account to your pre-paid debit card for faster transfers. There’s nothing that says you can’t have a bank account and a pre-paid debit card at the same time.

From there, you will also want to set up your account for your type of spending. If you’re going to be using the new card frequently, you will want to make sure that you select a subscription for your pre-paid debit card. A subscription gives you the ability to get away from a lot of the fees that you would normally experience with a pre-paid debit card. Still, even if you’re pre-paid debit card has any fees; you are still doing a lot better than paying overdraft fees or over the limit fees with bank accounts and credit cards.

The tracking features on pre-paid debit cards are so good that you can actually have your expenses broken down into different categories. This helps you really ensure that you know what’s coming in and coming out.

All things considered, beating the bad economy can be challenging, but that doesn’t mean that it’s impossible. Armed with a pre-paid debit card, you should have no problem really getting the most out of your money in no trouble at all!

When you’re handling more than one credit card, you definitely need to make sure that you’re paying attention to all of the finer details. Thanks to the universal default clause carried by most credit card companies, a single late payment can not only hit your credit report, but cause your interest rate to go up. This is because credit card companies will see you as more of a credit risk than someone that pays off all of their bills all of the time. You can avoid a lot fees, penalties, and extra charges just by keeping your credit card life organized as much as possible.

One of the best ways to make sure that you stay organized is to use your computer. After all, you most likely use your computer a lot, and it just makes sense to go the extra mile and really ensure that your finances are managed properly. There are plenty of computer software packages that are all designed to really help you mind your finances in a creative way. In fact, when you use computer software, you can actually get a lot more information about your expenses than you would with just a piece of paper and a pen. This is because computers can pick apart how frequent your purchases are, as well as break down your expenses into specific categories. This will give you the best window into your finances so that you know exactly what you’re charging onto your credit cards.

Why is it so important to stay organized with credit cards? You have to remember that paying your credit cards late can really mess up your credit. If you’re dreaming about a home or a new car, you must make sure that your finances are in proper order from start to finish. Believe it or not, credit cards are enough for a lender to deny your application for a home loan, or even a home equity loan.

It’s important to note that organizing your finances isn’t something that should be painful or even a chore. Think of it as protection against worse problems. Everyone deserves to have the best financial health possible, and you can make that happen by just keeping your credit cards in order, and then paying them on time. In fact, you might even be able to save a little interest by paying them a few days early — at least you would know that you don’t owe anything extra!

All things considered, organizing your credit cards without hassle isn’t difficult, but you’ll need to get started today for the results that you deserve!

Is it possible to get out of credit card debt?

Well it is not the easiest of tasks, but yes it can be done. If you are determined and have the self belief and drive then you can overcome these financial barriers.

Credit Card Debt

This is how things stand at the moment. You began with credit card, a well known brand that exuded trust and customer reliance. Then you saw that that purchasing items that you had long sought after was longer out of your reach. Purchase made, smile on face happy days! Okay it wasn’t that expensive the monthly repayments are easy to cope with. But hey back to the shops, I always wanted that as well, okay you can afford it this time but no more. Away we go again, the difference is minimal to the monthly payment so it does really matter, why shouldn‘t I treat myself, I deserve it. So it continues, and before you know it the available credit is zero, the interest charges are colossal and you feel lousy because the easy dough has disappeared. There must be other ways to get cash, so you take another credit card, but this time it will be different you say. Only in a few short moths later you are back in the same position again, except this time the debt has doubled and you are in serious trouble. Now is the time to take control to make sure it doesn’t get worse. However the stress of the situation means you can’t think straight.

So take a time out, it is not difficult to see where this is heading.

Once you are upon the path leading to credit card debt it is hard to get off. Everything spirals out of control and decisions that should be straight forward dare not.

You dread to go near the letter box when the mail arrives, and the phone will ring of the hook before you dare to answer. You are like a prisoner in your own home

You can get out of this situation; it takes courage and will power. Seek professional help but avoid the sharks that offer a fee paying service. There are government initiatives that are now in place to deal with any kind of debt, but most prevalent is that of credit card debt. Many individuals suffer the same indignation, you are not alone. Do not let pride stop you from getting the help you are entitled to.

It is a long tunnel but there is definitely light at the end of it.

Adjusting to the fast pace of life, even credit cards can now be acquired instantly. Apply now, and you get it in a minute. Thanks to the internet we can now have instant approval for credit card applications.

How can all this be made possible when it used to take a month before a credit card application is approved. And then it will again take several days to receive the card from the mail. The internet has made everything accessible. Major credit card companies such as Citibank, American Express, and Chase, among others now allow applications to be filled out and submitted online. You will not have to worry about the security of your information as these sites are secured. A few seconds after, you will get a confirmation through your email. If you have a good credit rating, approval of your application will almost be instant and you will be receiving your credit card shortly.

The internet facilitates the verification of your credentials so you can get approval for instant credit cards. The credit card companies can easily verify our credit standing through three credit bureaus through the internet as well. These are Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. Once they see you FICO score for your credit rating, they will be able to determine if it is good enough to be grant you an approval for your credit card application.

Get Instant Credit Cards

How can an instant credit card benefit you? The answer is quite obvious. There is no limit to the deals that credit card companies and banks are designing to get you to sign up for their credit card. It could be 0% APR for balance transfers as well as new purchases or very generous rewards programs. A lot of these offers can be found when you surf the internet. Now if you need to get a credit card instantly, as in right now, the only facility that can give you what you need is the online credit card application where you do not have to wait for a month or more to get an approval (or denial). Some credit card companies even go to the extent of already giving the card holder.

Acquiring your credit card through the internet is quite secured and even beats the security offered by regular the regular snail mail which can get lost or tampered. Websites provide security codes so that the personal information you send them will only be seen by the individuals who need to see them.

Instant credit card is one facility which you can consider when you really need to have a credit card in a jiffy, but before you do, check out all the offers and get the one that offers the most benefits.
